iCan't

bring myself to understand the iPad. As the news story popped up on my yahoo!mail, I was puzzled by the fact that there is yet another useless product, waiting to suck more energy from our already pleading world.

Can we not deal with what we have? I would be all for this 'new' product if it were energy efficient and half (or more) of the money made went to some needy cause, or if it were solar powered. But alas, that would be too tricky, right?

Wrong.

It's worth it. Last year in AP Environmental, we had to create an energy efficient house with all new appliances. The placement of the house, as well as the shape and the plants surrounding it, mattered. Did you know that as of 2005, 74% of single families had their own personal computer? But in Mobile Homes, only 49% had a computer to themselves.

Did you know that there are more renewable energy resources than nonrenewable, yet the majority of our appliances/lives run off of nonrenewable? Did you know that overnight, one computer uses over 100 watts of power? When you're asleep?

Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to power your television for 3 hours. That's 6 episodes of The Office.

Have a beautiful day.

Change is All Around

The wind, the trees, the water, the grass, people, places, animals, feelings, emotions. Everything is always changing. So why are we so scared of change?

Let's be uncomfortable until we're comfortable. Let's stay out of our element until it's our element. Let's make peace with the world. Stop putting things that should be recycled into trash cans. Stop littering. Stop judging those who are 'abnormal'. What is abnormal? What is normal?

Take a stand for something you believe in- Equality for All, The Arts, Global Warming, anything. Because we need to change. We cannot live like this forever, using up all of our natural resources. There is absolutely no denying it, WE are the cause for Global Warming. That's Bad Change. Let's turn it into Good Change.

Together, we can change the world.

I feel so cheesy writing this, but someone needs to say it and it needs to be heard by all. No one deserves to be ridiculed because of their skin color, religious views, or sexual preference. The Earth is ours to take care of, so let's start now. After all, this is the beginning.

Embrace

I have a very busy week ahead. A lot of projects due, tests, papers, etc. Instead of stressing out and having a mental breakdown, I've decided to embrace my activities. Not everyone has the pleasure of having the wonderful education that I'm getting, why would I take it for granted?

I'm not going to rush through things. I will soak up what I'm doing and not waste one minute fretting. I'm inviting you to do the same. You may have an important board meeting, a vital decision to make, or just a hectic week like myself, but lets take a moment to vow that we will be successful. Our failures are perfection, they are all on purpose.

When you find yourself partaking in one of those used-to-be 'stressful' activities, use that as an opportunity to be thankful for the opportunity.

Namaste to all.

We'll Start Now

I've been thinking a lot about beginnings. Beginning an instrument, a relationship, a new year. What encourages you to start? How do you feel when you are a beginner? Are you vulnerable?

I have thought about the mindset of a beginner. Fresh, new, willing to learn, soaking up as much information as possible. What would happen if we had the mind of a beginner for everything we did? If you went to work and thought 'okay, today I am going to be just as excited and fresh as I was when I first started'. How would your day be different?

It's never too late to become a beginner. If you try being a beginner for one day, you will learn so much more. Wake up each and every morning with a fresh start- today is the first day for everything.

That's how I came up with the blog name, Beginning Now. Because starting right now, you can turn your realistic life into your dream life.

Wait, why am I doing this?

I questioned why I was writing this blog. Not because I think people will read it (Ha. Haha). I guess it's just an electrical way to share myself with the world.

I often have thoughts when I'm by myself about things that the world needs and ways I can fulfill those needs. Maybe this is just a log of my thoughts. Yeah, we'll go with that.

Here we go!
